Description
This is a N-scale train model. I imagined the model as a Winter season of mid 1950s.
Tsubame (つばめ) is one of the most famous and histrical train in Japan. First in 1930, this train was operated between Tokyo and Kobe in 9 hours. But due to WWII, the operation of the train was stopped in 1942.
After WWII, Tsubame was re-operated in 1950 between Tokyo and Osaka in 8 hours. Between Tokyo and Nagoya (formerly Hamamatsu), this train was hauled by EF58 electric locomotive. While between Nagoya and Osaka, it was hauled by C62 steam locomotive. In 1956, total electrification was completed in Tokaido Mainline, The train was hauled by electric locomotive, and the colour of the cars changed from brown to light green (so-called Aodaisho; Japanese rat snake). The Aodaisyo train had changed into EMU by 1960.
In 1964, Tokaido Shinkansen changed the role of Tsubame from Tokyo-Osaka train to Kansai-Kyusyu train. However in 1975, Shinkansen operation was opened between Tokyo and Hakata, The nickname Tsubame had ended...
However, in 1992, The name Tsubame resurrected as Kyushu Limited Express train of Kagoshima mainline. And in 2004, Tsubame became the name of Kyushu Shinkansen. First it had been operated between Shinyatsushiro (Kumamoto prefecture) and Kagoshima-chuo, and in March 12, 2011 (ironically the next day of The Great Earthquake disaster) Tsubame has been operated between Hakata and Kagoshima-chuo.
